I never can understand why
a diver will climb toward the sky
to pull off a gainer.
Is nothing insaner
than diving from 30 feet high?

When given the opportunity to write poems for a sports anthology, I immediately thought of scary sporting events such as ski jumping, the luge, and high diving. As a child, I’d cover my eyes when these events came on TV and I still do.
B.J. Lee is passionate about children’s poetry. Her work appears in many anthologies
including: Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive for Kids, The 2013 Rhysling Anthology, The 2012 Rhysling Anthology, The 2011 Rhysling Anthology, And the Crowd Goes Wild: A Global Gathering of Sports Poems among others. Her work has appeared in many magazines as well, including Highlights for Children.
