And the Crowd Goes Wild: A Global Gathering of Sports Poems

I never can understand why
a diver will climb toward the sky
to pull off a gainer.
Is nothing insaner
than diving from 30 feet high?

About this Poem

When given the opportunity to write poems for a sports anthology, I immediately thought of scary sporting events such as ski jumping, the luge, and high diving. As a child, I’d cover my eyes when these events came on TV and I still do.
