Trapped!

by Dave Crawley

Cat Poems by Dave CrawleyI can’t get up!
There’s a cat on my lap!
What a terrible time
he picked for a nap!

I can’t get up!
No dinner for me!
I can’t play games
or watch TV.

I can’t get up!
No school in the morning!
My cat dozed off
without any warning.

I can’t get up!
And I don’t dare speak!
I may be here
the rest of the week.

About this Poem

If you own a cat – or even if you visit someone else who owns a cat – you probably know what it’s like to have the feline curl up on your lap and purr. But what if the cat falls asleep? If you want him/her to stay there, you CAN’T MOVE A MUSCLE – or the cat will get up and walk away. Cats are fussy that way.

I was thinking of such moments when I wrote a poem called “Trapped!”
