Animal Tracks: Wild Poems to Read Aloud by Charles Ghigna

I love EWE.
I’m not LION.
I really GOPHER you.
I never GNU this would happen.
You are so DEER to me.
It’s more than I can BEAR.
Let us SEAL our love with a kiss.
I will always BEE yours.
I will never have any EGRETS.
You are my one and only GULL.
OWL always love you.

  1. Linda Baie says:

Love the cleverness of using those words. I want to ‘crow’ about it!

  2. Elizabeth Westra says:

I love the way you used those names of animals. When will you be Bach?

    • Elizabeth, I’d love to see a new poem using the names of famous composers.
Here’s one I wrote a couple of years ago using artists’ names.

      THE ART OF CONVERSATION

How MUNCH do you love me?
      More than MONET can buy.

Then why do you treat me like a little DALI?
WYETH it weren’t for you my life would be empty.

Your morals are TOULOUSE for me.
SEURAT do you want from me?

Stop being such a little SISLEY.
      DONATELLO me what to do!

      Who DURER think you are?
      I gotta GOGH.
