I Wasn’t Me Tonight

by Matt Goodfellow

A First Poetry BookI was a liquorice black
velvet bat, arcing and
wheeling at twilight

slicing through the thin air
silent as silk.
My tight-skinned wings
stretched out against

the blossoming moon.

About The Author

Children's Poet Matt GoodfellowMatt Goodfellow is a primary school teacher and poet living in Manchester, England, with his wife and two children. He wanted to be a rock star until he realised he was rubbish at it – but don’t tell him I said that! Matt began writing poems for children a few years ago after being inspired by his son, Will, who told him that if he could have one wish it would be to ‘go down the toilet to see where everything goes!’

Matt’s poems have appeared in anthologies and magazines in the US, UK and Australia.
